This is What We Believe

Core Beliefs

The following are the core beliefs of Cross Church  based on the foundational truths taught in the bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical doctrines.

The Bible

The Bible is God's living word to all men. It consists of 66 books and was written by human authors under the divine direction of the Holy Spirit. Because it was inspired by God, it is free from error and constitutes the only infallible guide in faith and practice.

God created Adam and Eve in His own image. By disobedience, they fell from their sinless state through the temptation by Satan. This fall plunged humanity into a state of sin and spiritual death. From this condition we can be saved only by the grace of God, through faith, on the basis of the work of Christ, and by the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit

There is one God, the Creator of all things, infinite in being and perfect. He exists eternally in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, who are equal in power and glory.

The Holy Spirit is the Third Person of the Triune God. He works to persuade us to repent of our sins and confess Jesus Christ as Lord. He lives inside of us, equipping us with spiritual gifts to carry out the ministry of Jesus Christ.

Jesus Christ

The  Church

Jesus Christ is the Second Person of the Triune God. He is the Son of God who became incarnate without a human father, was born of the Virgin Mary making him both divine and human. He lived a sinless life and died on the cross for the sin of all mankind. He was laid in a tomb but rose from the dead on the third day. He ascended to the right hand of God the Father. He shall come again to complete his saving work and to complete the eternal plan of God.

We believe in water baptism by immersion as an outward sign of the inward sanctification performed through the shedding of Christ's blood for the believer.

The church represents the living body of Christ and is comprised of believers in Jesus Christ. He is the head of the church and we have been called to do His work in this world. The church is responsible for sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ, celebrating the glory of God, caring for and assisting those in need, and developing spiritual growth among all believers.

Salvation is a gift from God and is not a result of human work or effort.  We are saved by the grace of God through Jesus Christ; His death, burial, and resurrection.

Christ Return

We believe in the Christian's hope-the soon-coming, personal return of the Lord Jesus Christ.
